Behind the Scene and other Major Plot Points
Superman in Film (Different interpretations in comparison to power of Aquaman)
I didn’t like the fact that they made Superman look weak, just so that Aquaman would look good. Seriously guys? Couldn’t you find better writers. Superman was fighting against a foe weilding an enchanted weapon (the royal trident of Atlantis). Magic is another one of Superman’s weaknesses so you shouldn’t be dissappointed with that. Magic is one of sups weaknesses, but one hit by the trident is absolutely not enough to get him actually knocked out. He could have easily avoided the beam with his super speed, or many other ways
I have to agree that superman could have easily avoided it but I feel that if superman was portrayed at his full potential then there would be no plot/struggle and superman would demolish everything. Also i wouldn’t say they made him look week in anyway…its like you guys acknowledge the scenes where he looks weak but completely ignore the ones where he is bad ass.Examples are when they first found Aqua-man and meera fighting on that island…when super showed up he made his entrance by slamming that ground making a big crater and said “retreat” and the trench monsters did just that with haste! Oh also lets not forget when he basically beat that giant see monster by himself. Agree, but they could have easily found a way to not make sups look so weak. And yeah, that scene was pretty bad ass. I kind of felt like it was more of superman being a bit cocky thinking he could take the blast the first time around. I forgot how the fight went down the second time though.
Why Even use the atlantis army?
But one thing that irked me was when Prince Orm (Ocean Master) was wielding the “Trident” he was able to raise the tides to the point of creating a tsunami that was bigger than the size of new york. Why not just use that to drown everybody in one fell swoop? No point on using the soldiers and create unnecessary casualties for his people.
He probably wanted to show off and make sure everyone seen he was the one that was responsible or something.
Lotta killing for superheroes who supposedly don’t kill (Different Interpretations)
I didn’t read the comic this was based off of, but did the League kill people in that? This movie didn’t even really try to shy away from the fact that in a time of war like this, the League definitely takes lives and doesn’t just conveniently knock people unconscious.
The League killed alot of trenchers, not humans. Ocean Master and his army did kill many humans and Atlantians, but I don’t remember the League killing any humans. Maybe I missed a scene?
Wonder Woman speared through one men, Super crshed 2 guys into a wall (debatable), GL used giant vacuum to fling Atlantiand hundreds of feet into the air to subdue them (debatable), Arthur feed a Shark (debatable if there was intent),
Batman is the only one with the “no killing” principle. Most of the others have killed previously, although of course being heroes, they simply prefer not to.
Well Batman kills all the time in the Nolan movies, so I guess it balances itself out. He flat out shot Talia. I know it was necessary, but…
Aquaman is now clearly the most powerful member of the Justice League
If you are a fan of Aquaman, as I am, you will absolutely LOVE this movie. They really give him the royal treatment.
Without giving spoilers, I will say what I mean by Aquaman now clearly being the most powerful. Ocean Master (Orm) is the main bad-guy in this movie. And he EASILY defeats the entire JL not once, but twice, with the power of the Atlantean royal trident.
It is retarded. Superman has the powers of the Stars. End of story.
I was never a fan of Aquaman but recently I have started to enjoy his appearances. He is not clearly the most powerful, maybe he is underwater but even Supes showed he has great strength beneath the sea. Almost every film the main villain has to show he can subdue Supes for at least a moment just to add some tension to the film. Superman is basically a god and if he showed his true power in every film then the story would wrap up in less than 10 mins. Aquaman should however be in talk as one of the most powerful heroes and this film did help support that.
Another orgin story.
I understand introducing Aquaman’s new origin story but, really felt it was rushed.
When it comes to Justice League animated moves, I think DC should focus more on a strong story that’s about the Justice League.
If it’s an origin story, they should have called it Aquaman. It really had nothing to do with the JL functioning as a team. It weakened the quality of Justice League stories – as a whole. To each his own, but it’s really about time that Aquaman got his due. He’s finally not being taken as a joke for the first time in decades. I think this is in preparation for the BvS film.
The final fight
The bar fight
The superman fight
The emotional issues with cyborg
Pure awesomeness and as for the animation it was fantastic…
I found it to be pretty solid myself, but overall more a 65-minute episode of Justice League’s first season. I mean, I’m glad to have an Aquaman movie and all, but honestly the other members took too much of a backseat here. What character development they had at the end felt super rushed, given their bickering at the start.
How wonderwoman can breather underwater
The way it was explained to me last night by the animation director, they had very little money to correctly illustrate the communication under water. to do it correctly they would have had to draw some type of breathing / communication device on each of the characters which is something they would have had to animate thousands of times to get on film. In order to save money they assumed that Superman and Wonder Woman were so overpowered that they did not need any breathing apparatus nor any means of communication underwater. Green Lantern on the other hand has his power ring and a force field that surrounded him. They only put A transparent mask on the Flash, Cyborg, and Shazam.
In the comics, Wonder Womans ear rings allow her to brethe under water They are a gift from Poseidon You guys need to pay more attention Cyborg was never wearing a mask and when he initially went in the ocean to investigate alone he even stated “I have to thank (that girl doctor he likes/I dont know her name) for replacing that lung because no way i would be dong this w/o that upgrade” . I was wondering why Wonder Women didn’t need to breathe, having some kind of earring or Amazonian device makes sense.
The rest of the League was accurate. I also assume that the shield that protects Atlantis also cancels out the pressure for them. 🙂
im so sick of Superman being with Wonder Woman
It’s so annoying seeing Superman being dehumanized by that Amazoninan Woman I really wished he would go back to Lois Lane. I’ve always fancied the idea of Wonder Woman and Batman having a thing but that’s just me. For some reason, I feel it would be interesting to see her and Batman as a thing. She not nearly as vulnerable as a normal woman is, so it’s not like he’d put her in danger by being with her.
I don’t have a problem with Supes dating Wonder Woman for a while. People, even super-people, gotta explore their options after all
What come after JL: Throne of Atlantis
Justice League: Gods And Monsters and Batman vs. Robin still aimed for 2015.
Then there’s that new ‘dark and edgy and everything young people presumably like today‘ Justice League series that Bruce Timm said he was working on a few months ago.
Question about underwater attack
I was just wondering…is it possible to have fire and smoke underwater like that when Black Manta fires at Atlantis? It just seemed strange to me. It depends on what type of chemicals are involved. If ifs a fuel that has its own oxidizer, like Hydrogen peroxide or is a mono peopellant, like OTTO fuel (most torpedoes use either one) then it can burn under water.
