What Gone Girl does so brilliantly is taps into the audience’s psyche regarding marriage and the ideology behind a sanctioned union that is corrupt
In order to figure out his character, Ben Affleck researched and studied several men who were accused and convicted of killing their wives. He paid particular attention to Scott Peterson.
David Fincher explained that one of the reasons he cast 35 year old Rosamund Pike as Amy is that she was of ambiguous age in her appearance, and could pass for an older or younger woman.
The score of the film is perfect, as it builds up suspense and the tone of the story
When it comes to casting roles, David Fincher typically goes on the internet to look through pictures of actors to help him find the right type of actor for a role. When casting the role of Nick Dunne, Fincher spotted photos of Ben Affleck and noticed a particular smile Affleck had on dozens of pictures. According to Fincher, it captured a particular emotion in a scene of Nick Dunne smiling that showed the essence of the character. Soon after, Fincher cast Ben Affleck in the role.
Fincher exercises upon his trademarks with the swift and stunning cinematography, the chilling score and tight editing, all of which makes ‘Gone Girl’ a movie full of great visual storytelling.
David Fincher’s stylish new mystery thriller was derived from Gillian Flynn’s intriguingly slick tale from hercomplex and suspenseful novel.
The second act uproots whatever ever considered dull about the movie as it takes a rapid turn into thriller stardom, resembling something taken out of a Hitchcock movie. Only a handful directors can completely enhance the movie’s narrative through editing, and Fincher is one of them. I’ve always loved these psychological thrillers and Gone girl is perfect. Trust me when I say it’s worth seeing. Being true to his style, Fincher- Noir does it again in theaters, delivering with a dark picture and a haunting sound, one of the most complex and sociopathic marriages the history of cinema has ever seen
The ending shows us the truth of some relationships, not literally but just think about it. Really, after you watched so take time and just think about how absolutely genius this movie actually is.
It was not an easy feat who will be able to bring to life the leading character of the book, which is Amy Dunne. Her character is so complex, that Rosamund Pike deserves all awards that will be coming to her. She was able to give Amy the mysterious vibe but likable aura of a socialite New Yorker. Already she has garnered Golden Globe nomination for her performance.
Gone Girl lives up to the hype.(http://www.graffitiwithpunctuation.net/2014/10/29/spoiler-review-gone-girl-david-fincher-2014-2nd-opinion/)
Gone Girl is a dark and intelligent thriller that plays to Fincher’s magnetising style, the two really are a match made in heaven. (http://fanthefiremagazine.com/film/film-review-gone-girl/)
The best, most satisfying mystery/psychological thriller in a long time. It also works as a wicked satire.( http://moviedearest.blogspot.com/2014/10/reverends-reviews-men-behaving-badly.html)
Best movie I have seen this year. Rosamund Pike is absolutely creepy and Ben Affleck is perfect as the clueless male. This story is an allegory about marriage. What we do to each other, how we change each other, what we need from each other and the compromises we make. Go see this movie( krammerlock)(MetaCritic)
Things are about to get real for Gone Girl fans. Really real.
20th Century Fox has announced their plans for Gone Girl on DVD and Blu-ray, and one special feature with your Blu-ray home entertainment purchase will be a physical copy of an Amazing Amy book by Amy Dunne (played by Rosamund Pike in the film).
Details about the book are still scarce, but Fox says Amazing Amy Tattle Tale is 36 pages and “exclusive [and] new.”
Gone Girl on Blu-ray will also include a commentary track from director David Fincher.
The film starring Ben Affleck was one of the year’s most beloved dramas, so fans will surely be clamoring to get their hands on one of Amazing Amy’s stories.
Gone Girl hits DVD and Blu-ray on January 13 (sadly just missing the gift-giving season for the Gillian Flynn lover in your life).
It’s always a little scary when fictional plot points cross over into the real world. Holding a copy of an Amazing Amy novel will surely make some people look over their shoulders in the event that Amy Dunne is about to bring terror down upon your life.
